Check out Nike watches. I have been wearing one for over two years. I get a lot of compliments and it is a great watch.
Timex Iron man. They come in many varieties, so you can find one that looks good for you. Anything else just makes you look like a wannabe.
I would also suggest Nike watches. You don;t have to choose the sport ones, there are the metal-type ones also. They are cheap, efficient, and looks great with nearly any type of attire.
Guys, any specific models you recommend? Please post links.
I'd check out the Casio AWG101-1A. It's G-Shock and it dials into the mothership every night to make sure the time is kept within a half-second. It's laid out like an analog chronograph so it doesn't scream out "Nerd" but it's got all kinds of digital bells and whistles, including alarms, stopwatches, countdown timers, etc.
The only issue is the list price, which is $130, but look around and see if you can find it cheaper, and even if it's a little more than you want to spend, it's worth the stretch. It's durable, functional, it keeps great time and it doesn't look a Casio.

Casio G-shocks are probably the best bet. This one looks pretty respectable for just about any situation, wouldn't be terrible at dinner, but still good for working out:

I have several Nike watches. They look cool and have all the bells and whistles of a great sport watch.
I can't vouch for durability but this watch is relatively cheap and looks great.
It's a Kenneth Cole, costs $50, and has a very modern style to it.
Read the reviews and see if it's for you.

I'm a long distance runner and have used the Timex Ironman watches ever since I started running 15 years ago. I've gone through just two watches in that time frame and the only reason I switched is because I needed a higher lap memory. I like that its functional enough for a 20 mile run and looks pretty nice with a casual outfit when you head out to the pub for a pint. The one I currently have is closest to the link below.
For under $50, it's very hard to beat this Casio dive-style watch:

It's reasonably unusual, looks good, and doesn't feel cheap.
I've worn one for a few months and it's holding up to the abuse well.
Personally, I have a Fossil Blue watch that I love. I've had it now for over 4 years and it's has held up well. Stylish and durable.

I find it best to go in the Outlet fossil stores, they have a huge selection of cheaper watches under $50.
