Ft. 12-Cycle SilverCare Washer ($1100) can still get your clothes clean and disinfected, but it uses silver ions instead of harsh chemicals and hot water. This is pretty crazy stuff, so here's what Samsung's site had to say about it: "Metallic silver atoms, electrolytically stripped of an electron, are injected during the wash and rinse cycles, allowing over 100 quadrillion silver ions to sanitize clothing without the need for hot water or bleach." Yeah. We always hated chemistry.
