After five years of faithful service, this Uncrate editor's Bose remote finally died this past week, so we began a frantic search for a universal remote that could handle our myriad home theater devices. The Logitech Harmony 890 Pro Remote ($400) seems like the right fit for our needs. It features easy setup via USB, a macro-driven color menu system, a fully-backlit control pad, and, unlike the Harmony 880 which uses IR signals, the 890 works via RF so we can still change tracks on the Bose from the other room.
