As happy as we are with our previous pair of Shures, the new E500s ($500; available in May) sound (no pun intended) like they might be even better. The first earphones to allow the listener to switch between sound isolation and a mode which lets in ambient noise — called Push-To-Hear — the E500s feature three tiny drivers in their compact package, allowing for better bass response and Shure’s excellent personalized fit.
