Our second (and second to last) iMix of the year isn't too shabby, if we do say so ourselves. You'll find our favorite tracks, old and new, this month from bands like Placebo, Bright Eyes, Killswitch Engage, and My Chemical Romance. As always, it's less than $10 at iTunes, or you can cherry pick any song for 99 cents. Tracking list and our thoughts here.
1. Running Up That Hill by Placebo - It's been a long time since "Pure Morning," and it shows in this almost perfect ode to desperation.
2. Spent On Rainy Days by Bright Eyes - A tremendously raw, infecting song from last month's Noise Floor (Rarities: 1998-2005) album.
3. Do What You Want by O.K. Go - Known mainly for their outrageously cool video for "Here It Goes Again," this is another fun romp.
4. Welcome To The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance - Strangely alluring song that kicks off with a very Queen-esque vocal and guitar onslaught.
5. Daylight Dies by Killswitch Engage - The title track from the band's latest metal album. We couldn't possibly enjoy anything heavier or louder.
6. Soma by Smashing Pumpkins - Pretty much our favorite Pumpkins track, evs. It's that good.
7. Hours by TV On the Radio - Their sound is almost impossible to describe, but this track is good — and it anchors the beginning of their newest record.
8. Between The Sheets by Monty Are I - Some good ol' fashioned Vans Warped Tour rock with some added ear candy surprises.
9. Big Brat by Phantom Planet - Apparently pissed that millions of teens sing along to their hit "California" every week before Fox's "The O.C.", Phantom Planet finally makes another worthy track for your iPod.
10. Suite-Pee by System Of A Down - Rapidly changing vocals, death growls, over-the-top drums and guitar, insane lyrics — everything we loved about System before they went all political.
