Mel Gibson's Apocalypto ($17) takes you on a bloody journey through the violent last days of the Mayan civilization. The brutal action-adventure epic turns out to be quite awesome, despite some terribly fake animatronic animals. You won't believe the human sacrifices or the superb on-foot chase scene towards the end. But be prepared to read two hours of subtitles.
