Where is the best place to get a good military backpack for everyday use? Looking for an Olive green one.

there are far too many websites selling mil-spec backpacks - there's Maxpedition.com & Kifaru.com are both well known, respected, tried & tested under combat conditions - like Corey said Army navy stores are a good bet - - the Alice pack was a style of pack, based on an 'A' frame - the Molle is a system to attach tons of stuff they both have benefits - but Molle style/system is probably a better option if only because today everyone in the biz is gearing towards Molle If you are on a budget go to Army Navy stores -- if not the 'net is the place to go - you should be able to find exactly what you want for under $250
Blackhawk
Blackhawk.com
I swear by these. My cousin's in the military, so he gets them at a good rate. They have packs for everyone.

Don't forget about CamelBak's Military Issue hydration packs. They're rugged, have a million pockets and pouches and they're legit.
Check out Deutsche Optik. Besides brand new East German Army issue packs for $11, they have lots of vintage and military leather bags. You can't simulate the kind of patina their leather items have.

Berghaus generally accepted by those who carry them (in the military) to be the best. I know mine was great… I have a UK army issue one you can buy lol
Well if you are talking U.S. Military, then you can buy one from one of the primary contractors who makes packs for the military.
Interestingly enough, both Blackhawk and MysteryRanch have production facilities next to each other in my neck of the woods.
As a former Infantryman, I can personally recommend either Ranger Joe's or Commando Military Supply. They both have a brick-and-mortar locations outside of Fort Benning, Georgia that we would go to frequently. They also have extensive websites.
I gotta surplus from my stint with the S.A.F. Doesn't have the metal frame like those Alice packs though.
I've bought backpacks from Maxpedition, Blackhawk and other manufacturers. They were all excellent but not "perfect". I now have IMHO the "perfect" all-around military-style daypack. The Rush 24 by 5.11 Tactical has the Molle set up, multiple pockets, excellent organization and, most importantly, is durable yet the softest of all the cordura nylon packs out there. They also have the Rush 72 for those who want a larger pack. 5.11 also has superior accessory pouches with a proprietary SlickStick system that beats any other attachment system I've come across.
I'm a Navy Veteran and I missed my rugged gear from my service days. You can go on LA POLICE GEAR.
then go to Maxpedition or 511 Tactical. There is a great bag called a bailout bag. A must buy.
I've purchased from Silverman's in the past. They carry a good assortment of patrol packs, etc.
Authentic? You can be real man and join the military rather than trying to play soldier boy dress up.
OTOH, if you simply want a really good, really durable pack then don't get a military issue pack! Most civilian packs from companies such as Osprey, Lowe, Mystery Ranch, etc. are better than what the military issues. When I was in the Army I ditched my ALICE pack (yeah, that's showing my age!) and bought a London Bridge Trading pack.
Unless you feel like going to the Middle East, I would just go to your local Army/Navy surplus store and search there. They will have packs of all different sizes and from different decades as well. Going for the M.A.S.H. look? More than likely they will have gear from that time. If you have a friend in the service, ask him or her.
All else fails and you are looking for something more realistic than your Modern Warfare 2 game, join the military and you'll get all sorts of cool swag with that nifty backpack. Maybe even a gun!

You can either get a ALICE pack, which is the vietnam era pack: http://www.google.com/products?q=ALICE+pack&hl=en&aq=f
Or a MOLLE pack which is what is being used today: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=MOLLE+pack&spell=1&oi=spell
If there is an Army/Navy store around you, they will have both and they will most likely be authentic.
