What are some good stands for flat-panel TVs?

BDI makes the best dedicated stands but as the above mentioned they are pricey but come fully assembled. Having sold them in the past, i can tell you they all are the best built piece of furniture you will ever own.
BellO tends to try and copy the BDI design, and they do a good job. Almost all of their stands require assembly, and done right will last for a long time.
Again, I will bring up Ikea they also require assembly, and are normally made up of some kind of fiber board and not wood, but they are very inexpensive, modern, and last for awhile as long as you don't move them a lot.
A side note: always remember with TV stands not to tighten the bolts/screw until you are done building to ensure it sits flat without wobbling.
I have an Ikea Leksvik for my TV (52" Samsung LCD). We shopped around forever to find the right size and style, and this met both. Well-priced, too.
But ultimately, one of the great things about flat-panel TV's is that they can be put anywhere, or on anything. Don't limit your search strictly to "TV stands". A unique table or piece of antique furniture would do the trick just as well, while also creating a point of conversation.
The problem of buying furniture these days is that many manufacturers use the cheapest material they can find to cut costs. The customer always thinks they are getting a good deal until the furniture piece starts falling apart.
