I'm looking for a great room freshener. Any suggestions for one that doesn't look hideous and has a good scent?
Reed diffusers. You can get them anywhere (just Google the term). It's basically a small bottle full of scented oil, with bamboo sticks coming out the top. The bamboo absorbs the oil and then it evaporates into the air. The smell is subtle and doesn't smell like a college dorm full of plug-in air fresheners. You can get an infinite variety of scented oils and it lends a nice, minimalist look to the room.

Even though they're purely novel, Hotwicks candles have some pretty unique scents that wouldn't be too flowery. I use the "dryer sheets" scent in my office to hide that musty, old hospital smell and it gets a lot of compliments.

Just make sure the place is clean. I'm not a fan of candles, and I've seen those reed diffusers tip over and spill scented oil all over the floor.
Give it a good clean, open the windows every now and then, take the garbage out, keep the laundry in check - your place will smell fine.

Try Yankee Candle Midsummer Night. Not overpowering or girly. I use the auto version in my office, works great.
