I wouldnt go with cash. It shows that you dont care and didnt put any thought into it. I just got a gift for my father in law and went with a abstract painting from www.CollegeArtOnline.com
He loved it and thought it ws very original and thoughful.
I know that everyone says cash is impersonal, but ask yourself if you ever cared about receiving such a gift. For me, there's no greater joy than getting money as a gift. I rarely remember to thank for gifts but always remember when people gave me cash that I put towards something (perhaps out of gift price range) that I really wanted. Of course it all comes down to personal preference and some people really do find it impersonal to receive cash. All in all, it's up to you because you (presumably) know the couple. If they wouldn't find it impersonal, then why not cash?

As someone who is about to be engaged to a divorcee, I would disagree with ALL of the above. We are two adults entering our 30's we have basically two whole household's we'll be consolidating into one. Assuming they are lucky enough, they'll also be leaving shortly for a honeymoon, which will be filled with massage / pampering.
As this is a second marriage, it will also most likely be a self financed one, and the greatest gift you can give is a little help to not start the marriage off in a 20K whole from the wedding.
As to how much? I guess that depends on how well you know the couple.

Cash is a great gift but a little impersonal. I would recommend getting the couple a service they can both enjoy. His and her massages, dancing lessons, etc. They may appreicate the cash but will remember a service they did together as a couple alot longer.
