Adding that kind of clothing space is always a challenged. Depending on your overall space decor, you may consider a heavy-duty metal rack. While some may think it skews toward the dorm demographic, I have had mine for years. This is the basic wheeled rack that is used in stores and at fashion shows. It will hold up beautifully and can be deployed at any future residence easily in an attic or basement if you need space to store off-season clothing. A standard model will also fold easily to stash under a bed or for easy transportation. If you are a minimalist, this rack can be for you. If you also want something that can store sweaters, shirts, or even shoes, add hanging canvas shelving units on the side. In total it's a great space-saving minimalist package that doesn't have to look amatuerish if it's stocked with classy clothes.
Garment Racks
This Vermont-Based small company manufactures a variety of racks in multiple sizes and with lots of options. These are very well-built, without plastic or other breakable parts. They are also guaranteed to support all your stuff, up to 500 lbs - many racks won't guarantee over 50! Always be sure to check weight ratings, or you'll wake up one morning with all your fresh-pressed suits in a heap!
They have guy versions of armoires...not sure what they are called, but the inside is built to hold slacks/shirts versus long dresses.

If you live in a small apartment I would avoid an armoire not because it's girlie but rather because it's visually imposing and will make your already small space feel that much smaller. When I lived in a studio I sold all my tall furniture and replace it all with waist high console units. This made the space feel much larger and more open without losing any storage room.
I'm not a fan of Ikea sofas and bookcases (too flimsy) but their dressers are pretty well made, easy to schlep up stairs, and look good. They have some nice console height dressers that are worth looking at. Also look into storage boxes that will slide under your bed.
How bout an exposed metal clothing rack. Something like this; Antonio Metal Clothes Rack
I found this doing a simple Google search for metal clothes rack
The nice thing about having an exposed rack, it won't feel overwhelming in the space (like an Armoire would) and your clothing will be easily accessible... plus, if you have some nice clothes, they'll be on display for all the lovely people you invite back to your bedroom. Clothes always look good hanging from a rack.

I know that quality is most important when it comes to products recommended on Uncrate, but I cannot help but recommend Ikea for a solution to your issue of needing a place to store your cloths. Ikeas's furniture always requires assembly, with good quality at a good price. That being said check out Ikea Bedroom/→ for some awesome closet like units that are relatively inexpensive solutions, while still giving a non dorm like man cave.
