Should you use a certain face wash for beard scruff?
I've always used a salicylic acid-based face wash on my skin due to some minor lingering acne. I've recently decided to grow out a thin beard (slightly longer than an omnipresent 5 o'clock shadow) and am wondering if I should use a different face wash now?

you should be fine. but if your skin starts feeling dried or out you notice any sort of a thin residue (can sometimes happen depending on the facewash/shampoo you use on your beard) then try a beard specific product like Bluebeards
I've been bearding and unbearding for years. I never change my face wash on account of any length of beard.
The most important thing to remember is that it's still hair, so shampoo and conditioner can be used to keep it clean.
Bluntly put: if your beard is smelly, as in you can smell it, you need to wash it with shampoo. Condition to make it not so bristly if that's your style.

I don't have a beard, but I do tend to keep a 5 o'clock shadow a few days a week. I use Desert Essence tea tree oil face pads and/or face wash, to avoid the harshness of any acids. It keeps me very zit-free.
