I really like Palomas. Use about 2 oz of silver tequila, 6 oz of Fresca or other grapefruit soda, a little bit of lime juice and a pinch of salt. Its really tasty and refreshing!

I find that Passion fruit juice and tequila bring out the best in one another. The ratio of Passion fruit juice and tequila depends on the quality of the tequila but even the cheapest tequila can make this a delicious combination.

I second the Paloma. Sierra Mist makes a great grapefruit soda that works well with tequila even if you don't have a lime on hand. However, it is only better with the lime.

A good anejo like El Mayor with a few drops of water and a lime wedge is delicious on rocks, though.

Tequila + Low Acid OJ. The low acid keeps it from being too "heartburny". Yeah, it's a word.

It's super refreshing, and OJ does a nice job masking bad tequila.

a Tequila Sunrise is a good tequila drink. Its basically tequila and orange juice, with a little grenadine (cherry syrup) for flavor and color.

Make it in a highball glass, fill 2/3 with ice. Fill glass 1/3 full with tequila, then top with OJ, leaving a little room at the top of the glass. Then pour in about 1 tablespoon of grenadine.

Enjoy.

Any añejo tequila in a proper tequila glass . Doesn't get any simpler or more tasteful than that.

If your Tequila isn't tasteful enough to be a drink of its' own accord, you're doing it very wrong.

2 parts decent platino (silver) tequila (i recommend casa noble or el tesoro)
1 part FRESH lime juice (can get from Whole Foods, etc.)
1/2 part agave nectar (can get from Whole Foods, etc.)

Shake over ice, serve in highball over ice.

Nothing (aside from neat tequila) simpler or tastier.

Milagro Silver is the way to go $25-30 per fifth and in my opinion it's a smoother, higher quality tequila than Patron.

Take a shot of Milagro and mix with 1/3 oz Gran Marnier. Pour this at room temperature over ice cubes. Squeeze of lime and you're done.

This should let you enjoy the tequila while also being very enjoyable all around. Good if you're looking for something to sip and not a larger mixed drink.

Cucumber Margarita served Up. This drink is amazing although not exactly simple (a shot of tequila is simple). Muddle cucumber slice and stir with tequila, a splash of triple sec, and lime juice. Salt the rim of a martini glass with a salt/chili pepper combination. Then garnish with a cucumber slice. I also like to add a dash of Tabasco.

I enjoy the simple, yet enlivening taste of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice mixed with a nice blanco or reposado tequila. If you'd like to go a bit fancier, squeeze in a 1/2 a lime and top with soda water for the classic Paloma, a favorite in Mexico for it's light, fruity, refreshing quality. You'll need a highball glass filled with ice and a white, sandy beach doesn't hurt either.
