Your best bet for deodorant, soap, and moisturizers are unscented ones. This way, you don't have to have 5 or 6 different ones if you have 5 or 6 different colognes.
Also, avoid scented body-washes like the plague. No one wants to smell like something that costs $6.

I would say that it is. I usually use a lightly scented, or totally unscented after shave, and deodorant. I'll then apply my cologne. I don't like having the scents clash.
On the other hand, many designer colognes have complimenting deodorants and after shaves. You could match all three, plus a body wash and shampoo if you really want. Personally, I would try to match cologne with after shave and call it a day.
Too many scents is overkill. Like Alex said, if the aftershave is scented then skip the cologne.
Also, it pays to remember that if you DO put the cologne on, don't dump it on. There are a number of people out there that are allergic to colognes and perfumes, so it's best for you and others to tread lightly!
I use Anthony Logistics deodorant and Baxter Aftershave - Both are unscented and awesome. I don't use cologne every day, but when I do it's either Prada for Men or something by Burberry
I am huge on the very little to no scent for deodorant, and aftershave. They are products that you will typically use everyday, and I cannot see having the same smell everyday for every occasion. Get a deodorant that helps you stay dry, and odorless, and get an aftershave that helps prevent razor burn or bumps. and then find a cologne, or two, that gives you the right presentation for the right occasion.

If you're talking about a something with poor longevity and light sillage, like Eau d'Hermes or Chanel Pour Monsieur (usually anything with strong citrus notes), then maybe you can get away with it. For the vast majority of fragrances you'll blow people out of their chairs. Even a great fragrance will smell like ass if you apply it with a ladle. You'd be better off using an unscented deodorant + an aftershave balm if you need it, and a light hand with the cologne itself.
